Giulia Cecchi was born in Tuscany in 1994 inside a family with a deep passion and culture for wine and food. Her father is the proprietor of the Famiglia Cecchi Estates and her mother is the one of Castello di Monsanto winery. By consequence Giulia, from early childhood, has been deeply involved in the atmosphere of vine-growing, breathing every day the family experiences: she made her first harvest when she was 4 years old!
During her adolescence, she always followed her parents visiting the most important wine regions and tasting a lot of wines. Enchanted by the art, passion, and professionalism of the top chef and Italian cuisine, Giulia decided to attend the Luigi Bocconi University in Milan in Economics and made a thesis on the Three Michelin Stars restaurants located in Italy.
After her economics degree, she decided to have a working experience in the United States without the help and support of the family, with the belief to challenge herself. In early 2016 she landed in Manhattan with the intent to find a job linked to the world of the top restaurants. A combination of determination and luck led her to Solex Fine Food, a fine foods distributor based in NY, which was looking for an Italian Food Specialist. The experience in Solex gave Giulia the opportunity to know deeper the universe not only of high-end restaurants but also of truffles and wines, developing a strong network within the food and wine industry.
Giulia has recently joined Volio Imports, an importer of European fine wines, as North-East Regional Sales Director. Volio’s mission is to bring the consumer experience closer to the vineyard experience through education, service, and sales support. In 2019 Volio Imports has become the importer and marketing agent for Cecchi Family’s wineries, and Giulia will play a critical role in developing these brands in strategic channels around the US.
Giulia’s main aim is to promote the finest Italian culture in the U.S.A., educating customers on the incredible quality of the patrimony of Italian wines.
