Ben is founder and President of Maine Mead Works and his brand, HoneyMaker.  The family-owned and operated business been handcrafting award-winning mead (aka honey wine) at their winery in downtown Portland Maine since 2008.


Ben has been pioneering the use of an innovative continuous fermentation process in collaboration with Dr. Garth Cambray of Makana Meadery in Grahamstown South Africa.  The process and proprietary yeast strain enables the production of high quality “dry-style” mead that is versatile and food-friendly.  With a commitment to using the fresh, all-natural and local ingredients HoneyMaker is a leader in the fast-growing US mead industry.  He lives in Portland, Maine with his wife Carly, son Laughlin and daughter Maitland.
